Shorse Mach Recipe:

Shorse Mach is another type of fish recipe.In English, Shorse means "mustard seeds" and Mach means "fish".,that means this recipe is totally made up of mustard seed.For this recipe uses fresh water fish like Aar,Katla or rohu and cooked in authentic Bengali mustard gravy.

Ingredients For Shorse Mach:

3 Tablespoon mustard oil
1/2 teaspoon kalonji or Kala jeera
4 green chilies
8 fish pieces(Aar,Katla or rohu)
salt as required
3 tablespoon mustard powder or mustard paste

Step by step method of Shorse Mach:

1. Wash the fish pieces in a running water.

2. Marinate the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder.

3. Soak mustard powder in 1/2 cup water for 5-10 minutes.You can also use homemade mustard paste and add water to make the liquid.

4. Heat oil for 3-4 minutes in a deep kadhai and add the fishes to the kadhai.

5. Fry the fish until they turn golden.Ater that remove them in a bowl and keep aside.

6. In the remaining hot oil,add kalonji and let it fry for 20-30 seconds.

7. After that add mustard paste which we mix with water and salt,also add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and cook for 2-3 minutes.

8. Add 1 cup water,add salt as required and half cut green chilies.Cook the gravy for 3-4 minutes in low flame.Add fried fishes,cover the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes.
