Serves:3 Serving
Ingredients for Upma:
1 cup fine rava
1 finely chopped onion
1 chopped green chili
1 teaspoon chana dal(husked and split Bengal gram)
1 teaspoon urad dal(husked and split black gram).
1/2-inch finely chopped ginger
2.5 cup water
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
8-9 curry leaves
10-12 cashew
1-2 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
2 tablespoons oil
salt as required
Step by Step method of Upma recipe:
1. Prepare all ingredients for the upma.

2. First heat pan or kadhai then add 1 cup Rava.

3. Being to rost rava.Stir often while roasting the rava.

4. The rava or sooji grain should become fragrant and start to look dry,separate and crispy.Don't brown the rava.

5. Once the rava becomes fragrant and starts to look dry and crisp,then switch off the flame and remove the roasted Rava to a plate and keep aside.

6. After that add 2 tbsp oil or ghee in a pan and heat it.

7. Now add 1 tbsp mustard seeds and let them crackl.

8. After that add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds along with 1 tsp chana dal(husked and split Bengal gram) and 1 tsp urad dal(husked and split black gram).

9. fry until chana dal and urad dal begin to brown a bit.

10. Ater that immediately add cashews and begin to fry.

11. After some time the cashew gets golden and dal also get golden.

12. Now add finely chopped onions.

13. Saute the onions until it becomes brown and soft.

14. After that add the chopped green chili,chopped ginger, and curry leaves.

15. Stir and saute for a minute.

16. Then add 2.5 cup water to the mixture.

19. Stir well the mixture on a medium flame,heat the water and let it come to boiling.

20. When the water comes to a rolling boil,lower the flame and add the rava with a spoon,in 4-5 batches.

21. Once you add rava stir immediately.

22. Then add the next batch of rava and stir again.

23. This way keep on adding and stirring the rava up to the last batch.

24. Now cover the oven and allow the rava upma to steam for 2 minutes on the low flame.

25. Now switch off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
