Batata Poha or Aloo Poha Recipe:

Aloo poha is one of the most famous Maharashtrian breakfast.Very easy to cook and easy to serve.It's simply called a pohe.Potato poha used to be quite a regular breakfast recipe in Maharashtra.It's a quick,easy and healthy dish to make a popular breakfast recipe in Maharashtra.You can also try other Maharashtrian dishes like Sabudana khichdi and Sabudana Vada.


Aloo Poha Recipe
Time For Preparation:10 Minutes
Time for Cook:20 Minutes
Serves:3 Serving

Ingredients For Aloo Poha:

2 cups thick poha
1 large potato cubed
1 finely chopped onion
1 finely chopped green chili
8-9 curry leaves
1 teaspoon rai(mustard seeds)
1 teaspoon jeera(cumin seeds)
2 tablespoon roasted moong phalli(peanuts)
1/2 tablespoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon sugar
2-3 tablespoon grated fresh coconut(optional)
1-2 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
3 tablespoon oil
salt as required
1 teaspoon lemon juice or as required

Step by step method of aloo poha recipe:

1. Heat up a pan and add 2 tbsp peanuts and roasted them.

2. Until the peanuts become crunchy roast them and keep aside.

3. Pick 2 cups poha and wash them in clean running water by using a strainer.Note that yo do note wash the poha too much or else it breaks and get mushy.If the poha does not become soft,sprinkle few drops of water on the poha in the strainer.

4. Now sprinkle 1 tsp sugar,1/2 tsp turmeric powder, and salt as required.

5. Gently mix the poha with your hand.

6. Now add 2 tbsp oil in a pan and heat it.

7. After that add 1 potato which has been cut in small cubes.

8. Until the potatoes turn light golden and crispy saute it.

9. Remove them in a plate and keep aside.

10. Now in the same pan,first lower the flame.Then add 1 tsp mustard seeds to the pan.when they crackle then add 1 tsp cumin seeds.

11. Allow the cumin seeds to change the color and burst.

12. Now add 1 finely chopped onions.

13. Until the onions becomes golden and soften saute them.

14. After that add 8-9 curry leaves and 1 chopped green chili and saute for a minute.

15. Now add the roasted peanuts to the mixture and stir well.

16. Add poha to the mixture.

17. Until everything is mixed evenly stir very well.

18. After that add the sauteed potatoes.Again mix with the rest of the mixture.Check the test,if required then add more salt and sugar.

19. Now garnish the poha with chopped coriander leaves and grated fresh coconut. Serve the hot aloo Poha with lemon slice.
